Staff Highlight: Victoria Kennett
Family Support Specialist: Victoria Kennett
Victoria grew up in the small town of Glover, Vermont, before moving to New Hampshire ten years ago. Her love for reading, solving puzzles, and swimming in the summer is matched only by her devotion to her family and her bustling household, including two dogs, a cat, and six chickens (with six more joining the flock soon!). “A fun fact about myself that most people don’t know is I played rugby in college,” Victoria shares, highlighting her adventurous spirit and team mentality.
A Typical Day: Meeting Families Where They Are
As a Family Support Specialist, Victoria’s days revolve around home visits. She travels throughout the region to meet families in their environments, providing support that is both personal and practical. “I go to a family’s home and work with them on the issues they are having that they need to address and help them with the changes they need to make to achieve their goals,” she explains.
“I use Solution-Based Casework to track their progress and create an action plan to lay out the steps they need to take if they don’t see the change happening,” she says. This method ensures families have a clear path forward and the support they need to succeed.
Why FRC? A Place to Connect and Make a Difference
Victoria is passionate about her role at the FRC because it allows her to make meaningful connections and be an active part of the community. “I love working for the FRC because it allows me to be more involved in the community, help individuals in need, and connect with people that share the same passion that I do,” she says.
Programs That Uplift and Empower
The FRC offers a variety of programs and resources to support families, and Victoria is proud to be part of an organization that provides so much to the community. “The FRC also offers groups and training to the community, such as Recovery on the Go, Toddler Time, Anger Management, and Positive Solutions. We also hold a diaper depot once a month to provide diapers to anyone in the community,” she notes.
Advice for Families: Don’t Hesitate to Reach Out
Victoria’s message to families who may be struggling is clear and encouraging: “If I were to give advice to a family that is struggling and considering reaching out to the Family Resource Center for help, it would be to just do it. There is nothing wrong or shameful in asking for help, and everyone at some point needs help from others.”
The Resilience of the North Country
Having worked closely with families across the region, Victoria is continually inspired by their strength. “Something that I have learned and taken from working with families in the North Country is that the people that live here are very resilient,” she says. This resilience is at the heart of what makes the North Country a special place to live and serve.
Putting Families First—Always
At the FRC, we aim to put families first and set them up for success. “Keeping families together and showing them how to overcome obstacles they may face is very important,” Victoria emphasizes. Her dedication and compassion embody the FRC’s commitment to supporting every family, every step of the way.
As we look to the future, dedicated professionals like Victoria Kennett continue to strengthen our community, one family at a time. If you or someone you know could benefit from our services, remember: the Family Resource Center is here to help, and you are never alone.
