Family Support Specialist: Amie Davis
Dedicated individuals working tirelessly to support families are at the heart of every thriving community. One such person is Amie Davis, a Family Support Specialist and Newborn Navigator at the Family Resource Center (FRC) in the North Country. With a passion for helping others and a wealth of experience, Amie plays a crucial role in strengthening families and building a more resilient community.
Amie joined the FRC team a year and a half ago, bringing along her diverse background which includes eight years as a cosmetologist and three years in-home care. This unique combination of skills has equipped her to connect with people from all walks of life and provide personalized support.
As a Family Support Specialist with Comprehensive Family Support Services, Amie’s typical day involves home visits to families across the North Country. She works diligently to provide resources, guidance, and support to parents and caregivers, helping them navigate the challenges of raising children and maintaining a healthy family dynamic.
One of Amie’s most exciting roles is that of a Newborn Navigator. The FRC offers this innovative program, which provides essential support to new parents during the critical early days of their child’s life. Amie is particularly proud of taking on this role and is actively working to engage more families in the program. As an added incentive, families who enroll in the Newborn Navigation program receive a special bag filled with newborn essentials—a thoughtful touch that can make a big difference for new parents.
When asked what drew her to work at the FRC, Amie enthusiastically mentions “the opportunity to help others and the amazing staff.” This sentiment is echoed in her description of what she finds most rewarding about her job: “I live to help others, and in this job, we get to help so many families.”
Amie’s commitment to the FRC’s mission is evident in her approach to her work. She emphasizes that the FRC supports ALL families, regardless of their economic status. This inclusive approach is crucial in breaking down barriers and ensuring that every family in the community has access to the resources and support they need.
Outside work, Amie enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. She’s also an animal lover, sharing her home with two cats and 15 fish. This balance between her professional dedication and personal interests allows Amie to bring a well-rounded perspective to her role at the FRC.
Looking ahead, Amie is enthusiastic about the future of the FRC and its potential to expand and support more families. She recognizes a significant need for support groups in the community and is working to engage additional families in the various programs offered by the FRC, including the popular Toddler Time groups that foster a stronger sense of community among local families.
Amie’s advice to families who might be hesitant about contacting the FRC is simple yet powerful: “Please reach out! We are here to help and be a support for all families. We are a very caring Family Resource Center that wants to help as much as we can!” She also emphasizes the importance of family bonding, suggesting that even spending just 20 minutes a day together can build lifelong connections.
As we look to the future, dedicated professionals like Amie Davis continue to play a vital role in strengthening our communities. Through their tireless efforts and compassionate approach, they’re helping to build a brighter, more supportive future for families in the North Country and beyond.
